About

Geography

I was born in Chicago on April 9, 1943 and lived in various cities in Illinois through June of 1975. Lived in Phoenix, Arizona through January of 1978, San Diego, California through December of 1985, back to Arizona through May of 1996, Rochester, New York through July of 2008, and now reside in Accokeek, Maryland, about 15 miles south of Washington, DC.

Love Life

I met my beautiful wife Rosa in Goodyear, Arizona in July of 1976. I asked her out on our first date the following February. We got engaged in May and were married that August on her birthday. In March of 1982, we were blessed with a beautiful 9 lb baby boy that we named Jonathan Michael. He now calls himself Jon and has grown into a very handsome and wonderful person.

Spiritual

I was born into a Catholic family and was baptized George Francis. Attended elementary school at St. Dionysius and upon graduation told my parents I wanted to become a priest. They said no and that was that. Somewhere in the early seventies, I became an agnostic and remained one for the next 25 years. In December of 1999, I discovered a little book titled, Idiot’s Guide to Jewish History and Culture. About a year and a half later, I formally converted to Judaism. I have been enchanted and in love with Judaism ever since.

Other

Anything else you may want to know about me you can find out by walking with me on the Camino or by buying me a glass or two of a nice dry red wine when I get back.

  1. Linda Palmer says:

Hi George. My husband Frank and I walked the Camino the same time you and Victor walked. Frank is the pilgrim that had been run over two years prior and Victor took a video of us walking into Santiago. I hope you both enjoyed your Caminos as much as we did and have recovered from any injuries or aches and pains.
I need your help if at all possible.
    1. Do you have Victor’s e-mail address and
    2. I am trying to locate George and Iris from Tampa/Puerto Rico. We are down in Sarasota, just an hour away from them. The last I saw them was the day we all walked into Santiago, but I did not get their email address. If you have it, I would appreciate it very much.
    Thanks,
    Linda Palmer
