Jewish Gravestones

image

From the Castro Judaeorum excavations on display in the museum in Leon. I read about them at home and sought them out. Better view on my other camera. Maybe someone could read the Hebrew when I get back. I could make out the letters but not the words.

Change of plans

Today we hiked to Mansilla for 281.4 miles and then took taxi 11.6 miles to Leon. We still feel true to ourselves as we have walked over 11.6 miles in and around the towns we’ve visited. Getting here a day early does three things for us. First the guide book recommended taking the bus to avoid the busy and dangerous highway where the 11.6 would be. Second, it gives Victors blister a day to heal. Third, if we don’t need the day we saved for illness or injury, we could use it to take a bus from Santiago to Finisterre, the end of the earth.
